The sheer magnitude of the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre region is breathtaking – morning, noon or afternoon. And right now, the Lake is filling with water from the devastating QLD floods and the effects of heavy rain from cyclone Trevor. This means water – and lots of it. And with the water comes the fish and birds.
But there’s more. The myriad of colours emblazoned in patterns of ochre and pink algae create an amazing kaleidoscope of colour. The reflections are breathtaking. We predict this natural phenomenon will be present throughout the Winter and Autumn of 2019. The birds move around and we go looking for them with every flight when you book at the Marree Hotel.
And then there’s the “Marree Man“. The worlds largest work of art and one of Australia’s greatest “who-done-it” mysteries in recent times. Standing over 4km in height and 28km around the circumference, this extraordinary work is a viewing must. You can see the “Marree Man” – all part of your Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre experience.
