Historic dining rooms

The Marree Hotel offers a truly unique dining experience across three historic rooms, each steeped in outback character. Enjoy hearty pub classics and outback-inspired dishes in the Tom Kruse Museum Dining Room, where the story of the legendary outback mailman surrounds you. Step into the John McDouall Stuart Room, honouring the famous explorer with a setting full of history, or dine in the Lake Eyre Room, where striking imagery of the iconic salt lake sets the scene. Whichever room you choose, you’ll enjoy great food, friendly hospitality, and a dining experience you won’t find anywhere else.

FAQs

Can I reserve a table for dinner?

We don’t typically take dinner bookings – you can simply turn up to the bar whenever you’re ready to place an order. Then, we will give you a table number and you can go and find a seat within one of the dining rooms. Your food will be brought directly to your table when ready.

Can I eat outside?

Yes of course! Our veranda is a great place to sit down and eat. If you time it right, you can even enjoy the sunset at the same time.

Can I order food to takeaway?

Yes! We’re more than happy to prepare takeaway food orders. You can also request takeaway boxes if you’d like to takeaway some of the food you couldn’t finish when dining in.

I’m looking to try something a little different from the norm. Any menu recommendations?

Our Goat Curry or Camel Burger are two fantastic options. The curry is slow-cooked, diced goat in an aromatic blend of spices and coconut cream.

The Camel Burger is great to try as it combines the flavours of beef and game and is paired with a saltbush tomato relish.

For the real daredevils, there’s the Bull Bar Plate. This combines a kangaroo snag, camel snag and emu rissoles with a delicious dukkha mash.
